The Hong Kong Chinese Medical Association Ltd. (HKCMA) proudly facilitated the identification of Eaton Hotel, which at that time was the only fully emptied hotel (while awaiting the embarkment of being a community isolation facility for infected patients) in the neighbourhood of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH); this hotel could readily serve as a whole-hotel staff accommodation for QEH frontline healthcare workers. This identification could not have been more timely as QEH was just turned into a designated hospital for COVID patients.
The HKCMA further catalysed the implementation of a whole-hotel accommodation by securing a private donation of 6 million Hong Kong dollars from 3 generous donors for the purpose of temporary staff accommodation at Eaton Hotel.
To highlight the significance of this event, the HKCMA was there at the right time identifying the right place for the right people with a timely and heart-warming donation by three most generous and supportive donors. The HKCMA warmly extends our heartfelt gratitude to the three thoughtful donors: Henderson Development Anti-Epidemic Fund, Mrs. Maria Chan and Mr. Michael Chan. The press release by Hospital Authority Head Office dated 11 March 2022 is shown here.
May the QEH colleagues do find rest and comfort in a temporary home away from home!
